Slit-scan app

I saw a review of an app on one of my other favourite blogs a few days ago and thought I’d have a look at it. Unfortunately it wouldn’t open on my phone no matter how much I tried to get it to work. I emailed the developers who were great and sent me two new versions to try as they thought it was a conflict with the level of OS on my iPhone4. Sure enough the second try worked and I set off to try using it.

I’m still getting to grips with the thing but it does appear to be interesting in what you can do with it once you understand how it works. I suspect it uses the video functionality of the phone to create the final image so the res is not as high as I’d like but for blog posts it’s good enough. To get the best out of it I think a tripod or a very stable mount is in order and until yesterday I didn’t have such a device. So this is just to give you an idea of what effects it can have. The mr fantastic and man turns in to chair images were taken with it along with this, unedited shot from last Sundays field trip to heathrow
